Rossi thrilled with “fantastic” lap to split Ducatis in Austria
MotoGP legend Valentino Rossi was delighted with his qualifying performance at the Red Bull Ring, as he not only got on to the front row for the Austrian Grand Prix but split the Ducatis. The Italian bikes had been expected to dominate qualifying, as the circuit seems perfectly suited to its point-and-squirt characteristics, but the Yamaha of Rossi came on strong when it mattered to qualify second. “This afternoon we were able to make a good step that gave me a lot of confidence in braking, so I can ride faster,” said Rossi. “I did a very good lap, the time is fantastic, to start in the front row is important. “I try to push where the bike is very good, the last sector and T3.
