Austria MotoGP: Vinales tops red-flagged first practice

Suzuki rider Maverick Vinales set the quickest time in the first practice session for this weekend's Austrian MotoGP round, as a crash for Dani Pedrosa brought out the red flags at the Red Bull Ring. The 45-minute session was stopped with 12 minutes left on the clock when Pedrosa's works Honda machine slid into the barriers at Turn 9, and punctured the air-fence. Such was the force of the impact that the Repsol-liveried RC213V landed on top of the tyre barrier behind the air-fence, which was repaired prior to the session being resumed a short while later.
