Maverick Vianles topped the third practice session for the Catalan Grand Prix - the first session to take place on the Formula 1 layout following Luis Salom's fatal accident on Friday. With the change to the slightly shorter circuit coming at late notice, third practice was extended to give riders a chance to familiarise themselves with the modified final sector, which includes a chicane on the approach to Turn 12. Vinales was quickest come the checkered flag, narrowly beating Marc Marquez by just over a tenth of a second, whilst the second Repsol Honda of Dani Pedrosa was third, a further tenth off.
