Catalunya MotoGP: Vinales leads Marquez in extended third practice

Maverick Vinales came out on top in an extended third practice session for the Catalan Grand Prix, the first of the weekend to use the Formula 1 layout of the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. The decision to change to the slightly shorter but slower variant of the circuit - which bypasses Turn 12 and features a tighter, shorter Turn 10 - was taken on Friday evening following the death of Luis Salom in a crash during Moto2 practice. As riders got used to the chicane, which had been used once in MotoGP testing in 2014, times came down through the session. Dani Pedrosa set the pace for much of the early running, having set a 1m45.354s at halfway point, which was eclipsed by Vinales on 1m45.276s...
