Andrea Iannone to join Suzuki on two-year deal

Andrea Iannone will join Suzuki’s MotoGP squad from 2017, signing a two-year deal with the factory squad after Ducati confirmed earlier this week that they would not be renewing his current contract. The move comes as the Hamamatsu manufacturer seeks to replace the departing Maverick Viñales, and searches for a proven podium finisher to continue the current run of form demonstrated by the young Spaniard in recent races. Iannone’s chances at remaining at Ducati, believed to be his first preference, were scuppered after a number of high-profile incidents earlier in the season, including a last-corner collision with teammate Dovizioso that denied both riders a podium finish in Argentina.
