Phillip Island secures extended MotoGP deal until 2026

MotoGP’s Australian Grand Prix will remain at the Phillip Island circuit until at least 2026, the Victoria State Government has confirmed. The track joined the MotoGP calendar in 1997 and has remained there ever since, proving to be a popular venue on the series’ schedule. Government officials have now announced that the Australian GP’s future at Phillip Island, which hosted MotoGP testing earlier this year, has been secured for the next decade. This year’s race is the 16th round of the 2016 season and takes place on the 23 October. Meanwhile the circuit will continue to host the World Superbike Championship until at least 2027.
