Petrucci forced to abandon Qatar season opener
Danilo Petrucci will not take part in this weekend's season-opening MotoGP race in Qatar, after a further examination of the hand injury he sustained in testing at Phillip Island. The Pramac Ducati rider was forced to sit out the final test of the winter at Qatar, having broken the second, third and fourth metacarpals of his right hand in a crash in Australia. After his place was taken by Ducati tester Michele Pirro for the final test, Petrucci took part in practice for the Grand Prix weekend at Qatar, ending the third session on Friday in 14th, 1.2s off the pace.
