Mateschitz eyes future MotoGP switch to Salzburgring
MotoGP's Austrian round could be set for a switch to the Salzburgring in future, after Red Bull owner Dietrich Mateschitz acquired the historic track. The contract is to be signed in the next couple of days, with Mateschitz, not the Red Bull brand, as the buyer. Mateschitz will take over the Salzburgring with his company Distribution & Marketing Inc. In the short term, however, nothing will change at the Salzburgring, as its tenants of the International Motor Racing Club Salzburg (IGMS) and their president Alexander Reiner will continue with day-to-day running of the track.
