Valencia MotoGP: Marquez leads FP1, Lorenzo outpaces Rossi

Outgoing MotoGP world champion Marc Marquez set the pace in opening practice for the season finale at Valencia on Friday. The Honda rider, who survived a scare in the dying seconds, posted a best time of 1:31.250 to beat championship contender Jorge Lorenzo to the top spot by less than two tenths of a second. Lorenzo's title rival Valentino Rossi, starting Sunday's race from the back of the grid, finished down in fifth position, over four tenths off Marquez's pace. Dani Pedrosa was third fastest on the second works Honda, ahead of the Ducati of Andrea Dovizioso. Pol Espargaro was sixth quickest, with Andrea Iannone, Cal Crutchlow, Aleix Espargaro and Yonny Hernandez completing the top 10....
