Marc Marquez set the fastest lap of the race on the final lap to overhaul Jorge Lorenzo in an Australian Grand Prix for the ages at Phillip Island. The Spanish duo were part of a thrilling four-way fight for victory with Andrea Iannone and Valentino Rossi and in the end, Marquez emerged as the winner after passing Lorenzo three corners from home.
