Lorenzo half a second clear in FP1

Jorge Lorenzo showed the value of having Motorland Aragon as the Movistar Yamaha squad's test track as he dominated the first MotoGP free practice session on Friday morning. In what is now his customary style, Lorenzo took just five laps to shatter Dani Pedrosa's two-year old circuit record by 0.3s, showing that if anything, his first DNF of the year in Misano has added to his resolve to overhaul team-mate Valentino Rossi's 23 point advantage in the championship standings. Debuting a new helmet design for what is essentially his second home race, Marc Marquez was 0.49s slower than the Majorcan.
