Marc Marquez comfortably led Jorge Lorenzo in warm-up at Misano by a full 0.6s ahead of a potentially pivotal MotoGP race. A day after making a mistake that he felt cost him a shot at pole position, Marquez stormed to the top spot with a medium front and rear tyre fitted. Lorenzo brushed aside a late incident with team-mate Valentino Rossi in qualifying and posted a ten lap run that began in the low 1m 33s before ending around half a second slower. Andrea Iannone showed quick speed across one lap to place third, 0.035s off Lorenzo, and used a soft rear tyre to set his best time.
